Caught in the act: The OBA’s hon secretary Chris Laming snaffles some carbs at a lunch stop during the Demelza 101, a charity cycle ride from Sittingbourne to Paris in aid of the Sittingbourne based Demelza Hospice Care for Children charity. One hundred riders took part for the one cause and between them raised more than £200,000.
The event was staged over four days at the end of April and concluded at the Eiffel Tower.
Chris said: “It’s an awfully long way and I’m pleased to say that I managed to cycle the whole route which included some fairly testing hilly sections.”
He thanked all those who donated sponsorship money including a number of old boys and others connected with Borden Grammar School.
“I got involved in the event because a friend works for the charity and persuaded a group of us to take up the challenge. We trained very hard over many months and our reward was completing the ride safe in the knowledge that the money raised is going to a tremendous charity that does such good work in support of families in need of their care.”
