We have been sent a couple more items to remember Barry Gilbert who died in March
Barry produced a 5 part story of his life in the Met, that was serialised on the OBA website back in 2010 & 2011. This was on the previous website, but the articles are still available in the 2010 and 2011 Website Digests - http://old-bordenians.
Old Bordenian Frank Hales offers this further reflection on Barry:
"As a 14 year old playing cricket for Borden House I was bowled first ball by this giant and head of school. Anyway after school I played for many years with him at hockey for the Old Bordenians and a couple of years for Murston Cricket Club where I opened the batting with Ian Hazel. He was also one of the 40 Metropolitan policemen sent to Anguilla in 1968 when they briefly declared themselves a republic. It turned out to be a quiet summer holiday. I was glad I saw him at the 2017 reunion."
