on . Hits: 32

We are sad to hear from Gillian Baker of the passing of her father, Dennis Baker (OB 1944 – 1945).

We send our condolences to Gillian and to Dennis’ wider family and friends.

Gillian writes:

“Sadly, I have to announce the death of my dear father, Dennis Baker.

Dennis died peacefully at Woodstock Care Home on December 31 st. 2024. He lived a full and happy life.

My father was an academic, ending his career as Head of History, Christchurch College, Canterbury, where he gained his Ph.d.

He retired early and he and my mother moved to S.W France and renovated a 17th century farmhouse. When they returned from France, my parents became very involved in Sittingbourne Gardeners and Flower Arrangers Society.

Following my mother’s death in 2012, my father continued to learn new skills - woodturning, pottery, chair making and glass artistry. He even learned to play the clarinet!

He will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends”.
